When the "Captain of the Host of Yahweh" approached Joshua and gave him the battle plan for Jericho, everything he told Joshua to do was against the law. The very law that Joshua was told to meditate on day and night, the very law that Joshua had followed just a few verses earlier when he circumcised all the adult males in Israel. So why was it that on this day, for this people, for this battle that the law would be suspended? And why does it matter?
